Christmas Appeals

This year we will again be supporting two very important charities:

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal - Samaritan's Purse

and

Christmas Gifts for the Homeless

If you feel able to give gifts towards these wonderful charities throughout the year, please read below:

The Friendship Group, having recently been given a talk by a volunteer for Operation Christmas Child which is a project of Samaritan's Purse, decided that they would like to help to provide Christmas gifts in shoeboxes for children who would otherwise probably have nothing. This is a way of showing God's love to the needy children around the world. Can you help please?

There are several ways that you can help by providing a few items to go into a shoebox such as:

toothbrushes, lined notebooks/pads, pencils, colour pencils, socks, hats (can you knit?) gloves, small toys - there is a more comprenehsive list at the back of church - I will update this page with these items a little later. Boxes can be covered in wrapping paper but please wrap the lid separately. The shoeboxes will be collected at the beginning of November - so not a lot of time left! Next year this project will be started earlier and perhaps some of you might be able to knit or sew through the year for this.

Each year we also help by providing Christmas bags for the homeless or needy people in Birkenhead. These are distributed at Christmas by LifeXchange.

Suggested items (new items only please) are:

Warm hats (preferably shop bought as these fair better in the wet weather), Gloves, Warm Socks, Underwear - both male and female, Toiletries: soap, toothpaste, deodorant, wet wipes, small packets of tissues, sweets, chocolate, biscuits, notebooks and pens, playing cards.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
